Turin, Italy, 6/5/1905 - Turin, Italy, 27/8/1973

Carlo Mollino graduated in architecture in 1931 from the Regia scuola superiore dell’Accademia Albertina in Turin, a city which was to play an important role during the course of his career.
From 1953 he was head of Architecture Design at the Politecnico of Turin. In 1960 he held a one man show at the XII Triennale in Milan. In 1970 became a member of the Accademia of San Luca.

Mollino embraced Liberty, baroque, the legacy of Alessandro Antonelli as well as alpine vernacular construction, he also had many interests which he pursued alongside his professional activity; flying, motoring, skiing, photography, set design, fashion, all of which influenced his work.
A highly individual architect and designer, somewhat isolated and difficult to categorise, a nonconformist often forgotten in the history of architecture, he appeared frequently on the pages of Domus during the 1940s and 50s.
